Whau Pasifika welcomes new Komiti Members. We are especially interested in Pasifika Peoples who have experience in the areas of Governance, Financial, HR and Public Service.

BACKGROUND
The Whau Pasifika Trust provides support to enable meaningful engagement amongst local government agencies, organisations, business and Pacific Peoples.
We primarily support those living and working in the Whau Local Board areas of Avondale, Blockhouse Bay, Kelston, Glenavon, Green Bay, New Lynn and New Windsor.
The Whau Pasifika Trust is also committed to
implementing the recommendations included in the Whau Pacific Peoples Plan 2019.

STRUCTURE
Whau Pasifika Trust became a registered Charitable Trust in 2022. Information included below regarding term and selection process is set out in our Charitable Trust Deed.
Whau Pasifika Trust is governed by a Governance
Board (Komiti). Komiti members have included community workers, residents, volunteers, public servants, Pastors and High Court translators.
We welcome community focussed Tangata Pasifika of
all ages to complement our multi-generational, multi-
nations Whau Pasifika Komiti.
Komiti positions are currently: Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Members, and a paid contractor.
KOMITI MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Komiti members are expected to attend monthly board meetings (minimum 11 per year).
• Komiti members expected to read komiti materials in advance of komiti meetings and to come prepared to
ask questions and participate in discussions.
• Komiti members are encouraged to bring all of your best self - work, life, cultural experience - to our meetings, from whichever atoll of Moana Nui a Kiwa you represent.
• Komiti members will serve understanding and agreeing to the Whau Pasifika Trust Purpose, Vision, Mission
and Values.
TIME COMMITMENT
• Board meetings occur once a month (first Tuesday of each month)
• Meetings are generally 2 hours long
KOHA
• Trustee attendance at a board meeting is acknowledged with a small koha and catering at each meeting
RECRUITMENT & SELECTION
• The Komiti Officers are appointed through an expression of interest process (self-nomination)
• Selection is made by sitting Komiti Members by consensus.
