Whau Pasifika Trust Manager
Description
The Whau Pasifika Trust is a place-based, values-driven organisation working to strengthen Pasifika wellbeing, leadership, and opportunity across the Whau area. Grounded in Pacific values and community connection, the Trust partners with local government, funders, and community organisations to deliver impact for Pasifika families, youth, and communities.
We are seeking a Whau Pasifika Trust Manager to provide strong, culturally grounded leadership and oversee the implementation of the newly endorsed Whau Pasifika Strategic Plan 2026–2029. This is a flexible role, open to part-time, contractor, or job-share arrangements, and suited to an experienced Pacific leader who is passionate about community development and governance excellence.
Whau Pasifika Trust Manager
The Role
Reporting to the Whau Pasifika Trust Board via the Chair, the Manager is responsible for strategic delivery, operational management, financial stewardship, and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with Trustees, local partners, and the wider Pasifika community to ensure the Trust’s vision of a thriving, connected, and culturally anchored Whau Pasifika community is realised.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Delivery

Lead and operationalise the Whau Pasifika Strategic Plan in line with Board direction

Develop annual work plans, priorities, and progress reports

Embed the Trust’s three strategic themes:

Harnessing AI & innovation for community benefit
-
Strengthening place-based Whau Pasifika identity
-
Embedding strong governance systems and processes
Governance & Reporting
-
Provide high-quality reporting and insights to support Board decision-making
-
Prepare Board papers, agendas, and updates in collaboration with the Chair
-
Uphold transparent, ethical, and accountable governance practices
-
Ensure all communications and media are approved by the Chair
Financial Management & Funding
-
Oversee budgets, expenditure, and financial reporting
-
Prepare funding applications and manage funder relationships
-
Ensure compliance with audit, accountability, and approval requirements
-
Work closely with the Chair and Treasurer on financial oversight
Stakeholder & Community Engagement

Build and maintain strong partnerships with local government, funders, and community organisations
-
Act as a key connector with the Whau Local Board and Whau Economic Broker
-
Represent the Trust at community events, forums, and partner meetings
-
Champion Pasifika-led initiatives and collaborations
Operations & Programme Delivery
-
Lead day-to-day administration, project coordination, and event delivery

Ensure safe, inclusive, and well-managed programmes and events
-
Oversee IT systems, digital presence, and communications
-
Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements


About You
You are a trusted Pacific connector who embodies Pacific values and brings servant leadership grounded in āiga and community wellbeing. You are confident working at both strategic and operational levels and are comfortable engaging with Boards, funders, and diverse community stakeholders.
You will bring:

Strong financial and budget management capability
-
Experience in funding applications and stakeholder management

Excellent organisational, administrative, and digital skills
-
Confidence in event and programme management
-
Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and innovation capability
-
Experience working with Pasifika and Māori communities in Aotearoa
Preferred qualifications and experience:
-
Qualification in management, business, community development, or related field
-
3–5+ years’ experience in community, non-profit, or local government leadership roles
-
Whau Local Board residents
